I'm the first to admit that I'm not the most adept when it comes to preparing food.
(Eating food? Yes. Preparing it? Not so much.)
So, it's been interesting (to say the least) to witness how I've been maneuvering around my "kitchen" the past few weeks. I'd like to think I've been doing okay, meal-wise. Nothing gourmet to be sure. But I've been trying my best.
Just so I don't forget...here are some of the meals that have graced my counter:
Scrambled eggs with lardons (French equivalent of bacon) and grated swiss cheese;
Simple lettuce salad with home-made (mustard) vinaigrette
Blé (wheat kernels) with tuna, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers;
Lettuce salad with vinaigrette
Spiral pasta with grated cheese; sautéed zucchini and lardons;
Lettuce salad with vinaigrette
(Pre-pan-fried) cod filet with salad (lettuce, cucumbers,
tomatoes, carrots, cornichons) with vinaigrette
(Pre-pan-fried) cod filet; blé; carrot and cucumber salad
with pickle brine dressing(!); salted avocado
Ground beef patty with mustard; lentils; avocado half;
salad with cucumbers, carrots, and avocado
Mini-lettuce salad with goat cheese, cornichons
and mustard vinaigrette; fresh baguette
(Pre-pan-fried) cod filet; steamed broccoli
with lemon juice; fresh baguette
Ground beef patty; lettuce salad with carrots and cornichons;
Coulommiers cheese on sesame crackers
My meals are quite repetitive, aren't they?
Between having a small fridge and trying to eat things before they go bad, I'm seeing the same things over and over...
But, I have a feeling that I'm eating better than when I was "cooking" for myself back home.
I will count that as progress on the cooking front ♥
